Origin: Paris; younger brother of Pierre-Philippe Frichot. Learned the
jeweller's trade; also studied at the University of Paris, including
astronomy.
Family
Brother: Pierre-Philippe Frichot, architect-mason and brickmaker
Niece: Leontine Frichot, wife of Jean Priot
Occupation at colony: none recorded -- a short stay
Occupation in Dallas: jeweller, then brickmaker. He tried to set up as a
jeweller in Dallas but, for want of clients, became his brother's
partner in the brickworks.
Ship / arrival: a convinced Fourierist, he took part in Dr Mure's
phalansterian expedition to Brazil, then reached New York with his
brother; there the two decided to join the advance guard leaving for
Texas (early 1855).
Post-colony
- Founding member of Section 46 of the First International (1872);
sent money to the French socialists' subscriptions (the strikers of
the Nord, September 1872; the New Caledonia deportees, February
1875); from 1872 to 1875 a regular correspondent of the New York
internationals in Le Socialiste and the Bulletin de l'Union
republicaine, still a subscriber in 1875; corresponded with Jules
Leroux and subscribed to L'Etoile du Kansas

Notes
The jeweller-astronomer who made bricks: the standard example of a
skilled Parisian trade with no Dallas market, redirected into the one
that built the city. He died the year before his brother; the family
brickworks passed to Priot.
