The colony's own survey grants, in their true position on the land under present-day Dallas. Five contiguous grants — Horton, Coombs, Griffin, Read and McCracken — form the colony core, just west of downtown across the Trinity. The present-day street grid is ghosted beneath: Westmoreland, Hampton, Davis, Singleton and Remond Dr are the streets that now cross the plat. Five-foot contours show the actual terrain beneath both.
