Biography

Departures from the colony — the OUTFLOW side of the census ledger (ROADMAP
"Colonists" step 6). Two kinds of entry: group exits (splinter settlements,
mass returns) and individual exits (return to Europe, move to Dallas/elsewhere,
expulsion). Will never be complete; every dated entry helps net the census.
Companion files: deaths (vitals outflow), groups (arrival inflow, to be reduced
into colonists.py).


GROUP EXITS

1855.09.01 (by) - "Mutuelle" splinter — defectors squatting on Mountain Creek
        under the writer Sauzeau; land bought in four parts on credit. Colas
        writes from "Mutuelle ... the first of September 1855," so the splinter
        is in being by that date [colas 1855.09.01 (timeline.md:85); pratt
        notes.md:763 (Goetseels extracts stepson Philippe, buys the land,
        evicts the squatters); see ROADMAP dig-deeper thread]

1856.01 - "New Leuven" / "town of Louvain" — Goetseels's rival settlement on
        the former Mutuelle land at Montagne-Creek, recruiting Belgian
        architects from Reunion after his ~30,000-fr (art. 48) refund dispute
        with the management. Savardan dates the founding to Goodseels père
        passing through Réunion to settle there in Jan 1856 [savardan
        timeline.md:118 (⟨3202–3218⟩ [XIV]); pratt notes.md:763 ("Jean
        Goetseels," $30,000, dispute with Cantagrel — likely the same man)]

1857.01.28 - formal dissolution of the Société de Réunion (the East-Texas
        provisional society): notice signed Bureau, the "coup d'état" Mme
        Considérant engineered; statutes arts. 7 + 18 violated [savardan
        timeline.md:185 (⟨3262, 3268⟩ [XIV])]

1857 (autumn) - general dispersal following the dissolution -- many return to
        Europe, others move into Dallas [TIMELINE.md]
        ↳ FUTURE RESOLUTION: this diffuse event resolves per-person once the
          deed data (src/land/deeds.py) and 1860 census are cross-matched --
          who bought/sold parcels when brackets move-into-Dallas vs. exit, and
          who still appears in the 1860 county census marks stayed-vs-left.
          Downstream of the deeds x census matching frontier; not yet reached.


INDIVIDUAL EXITS

1856 (early) - Karl Burkli — Swiss group leader; called "the Texan" the rest
        of his life. His own apologia has him weather the brutal 1855-56 winter
        at the colony, then depart "Anfangs 1856" for Nicaragua/Central America
        to scout a new colony site; returns to inspect Considérant's West-Texas
        tract in 1857, then resolves to go back to Switzerland. His "left after
        ~6 months" (arrived July 1855) therefore reconciles to early 1856, not
        the previously-noted "late 1855" [burkli timeline.md:52 ("1856.early");
        REGISTER.md]

1855.10 - Cesar Daly — set off for France late October 1855, fell ill at Fort
        Washita, returned toward Réunion, then rejoined Considérant at Austin
        to lobby the legislature, so his final exit from Texas is later and
        undated. SOURCE CONFLICT on destination: savardan says France, wolski
        says Panama [savardan timeline.md:108 (⟨2441–2447⟩ [XI], "late
        October"); wolski timeline.md:61 (⟨303⟩, dates it ~1855.10.01, "leaves
        for Panama")]

1855.11.15 - Kalikst Wolski — on-site May–Nov 1855; his diary dates his exit
        (with Bussy) to 15 Nov 1855, thence New Orleans [wolski timeline.md:71
        (⟨306⟩)]

1857 (autumn) - Dr. Savardan — present two years; left Réunion in the autumn
        of 1857 (Haizé drove him toward Fort Smith for 80 $), was writing at
        Fort Smith on his 64th birthday 7 Sept 1857, and closed ch. I at Paris
        on 25 Oct 1857 — so back in France by late October. Wrote Un naufrage
        au Texas (1858) [savardan timeline.md:213 (⟨924, 3551⟩ [XV]; ⟨2041⟩ [VII]; ch. I close 25 Oct 1857 ⟨108⟩);
        strategy]

1856.07.08 - Victor Considerant — Savardan pins his effective departure to a
        day: "disappears at dawn with Cousin" ('the flight'), the morning fixed
        to sign the reserved-parts settlement; not seen again at Réunion 18
        months later. Based near San Antonio thereafter (there by 27 Oct 1856;
        Du Texas signed "San Antonio, 6 août 1857"); in Texas until 1869.
        Boyer's "was among the first to leave" is loose against this date; Du
        Texas reframes the same flight as a principled illness-driven
        withdrawal [savardan timeline.md:156 (⟨2975⟩ [XII]);
