Ship Franziska, from Bremen (departed 13 May 1855), arrived Galveston, Texas, 4 July 1855. 97 family entries (heads of household + noted family members; total persons larger).
This is the Swiss contingent's vessel — the fourth relevant immigrant ship after the Nuremberg / Uriel / Lexington (all French/Belgian, via Le Havre or Antwerp). Karl Bürkli's ~31 Swiss Fourierists bound for La Réunion sailed on it. See the finding in

Source. Galveston Immigration Database, Galveston Historical Foundation (ghf.destinationnext.com/immigration/), which digitizes Blaha & Lembcke, Passenger Lists for Galveston 1850–1855 (cited in the records as "BLAHA, 1985"). Retrieved 2026-07-02 by querying Year 1855 + Vessel FRANZISKA, then pulling each passenger's detail record. Names/origins are transcribed as recorded (clerk spellings; ages almost all "na" — not captured in this source). Verify individual readings against the NARA manifest (M259) before quoting.
Dating correction (finding). The manifest fixes the voyage at Bremen 13 May → Galveston 4 July 1855, which corrects Cordillot's biographical "embarked Bremen 12 April 1855 / arrived Réunion 5 July 1855": the ship left a month later than "12 April," and 4 July is the Galveston landing, not the colony arrival (~250 mi inland, reached weeks later). Bürkli's own 1858 account ("we Zurchers … arrived in July 1855" at the colony) and the NZZ (group left Zürich ~25 March 1855) both favor the manifest.

Notes: Jacob Nussbaumer is NOT on this manifest — he came on a big ship, not the Swiss contingent: the Lexington (Le Havre → New Orleans ~24 Feb 1855), entry #245 "Nusbaumer, Jacques, 28", with his father #242 "Nusbaumer, Rupert, 42" (readings verified Jul 2026; full adjudication in the Nussbaumer finding, src/findings.md, and doc/colonists/ships/lexington/roster.md). Two records carry a "DIED"-on-voyage flag (BAR Caspar's party and the German LANG Andreas party); the Baer flag most likely marks a family member, not Gaspard himself, who is documented alive in Texas/US afterward (Cordillot) — verify against the NARA manifest.
